| Mukhriz: Any Suggestion For New Economic Model Should Come In Fast |

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- Any suggestion for beefing up the country's new economic model should be sent in as fast as possible to the National Economic Advisory Council (NEAC) before its announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak end of this March. Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said the government, through the NEAC, remained opened to feedback from all parties. "We are always open to receiving feedback from any party but we understand the Prime Minister will announce the new model at the end of next month," he said. "With this, the NEAC definitely needs the time to prepare and therefore any suggestions to be made must be sent in fast," he told reporters following a dialogue here Thursday between representatives from associations, business chambers, Ministry of International Trade and Industry and the NEAC team. The dialogue, attended by more than 70 people, was chaired by NEAC Chairman, Tan Sri Amirsham A. Aziz. During the session, the NEAC team also explained the current economic situation to 40 representatives from various associations and business chambers. "The session was held so that the NEAC could get direct feedback from the business chambers, organisations that represent the Bumiputera community before the new economic model is launched," Mukhriz said. "We have received many suggestions through memorandum and the like from various parties and we have brought them up to NEAC but we felt it would be more appropriate if Tan Sri Amirsham heard it directly from them," he said. The new economic model prepared by the NEAC is expected to be presented to the cabinet this month. --BERNAMA
